What You Should Know About Forefront Identity Manager

Rabu, 25 Juni 2014

By Rhea Solomon

There is no organization that is able to stand to its feet without dedicated forefront identity manager . This is because there is nobody to oversee the work of others and motivate them to work harder. Talk of goals and objectives too whereby it will be like working towards nowhere. Hence there is need for administration of any organization for all work to run smoothly and efficiently.

In its broader view it means the organizing and coordinating of activities of the business so that a business organization is able to meet its objectives and goals. For this to happen there should be factors of production available and the principal to administer this.

But for the managers to do these functions as required, they are supposed to have skills, knowledge and experience on the same. Some of skills include conceptual skills, communication skills, human relations and technical skills. Technical skills is the professionalism and expertise they have that can be used to aid performance of various duties. Where the employees have no know9how, the manager can come in to assist them.

Human relations skills however are the most important. They go hand in hand with the staffing function. The skills are required so that the manager gets to know how to handle the employees in the organization; treating them fairly and motivating them so that they can be satisfied with the job environment for them to be more productive. Harsh managers are likely to build a poor working relationship with the manager and they are likely to produce poor results.

Controlling is another important function. It involves monitoring of activities and taking necessary measures to deal with any deviations if any. The manager does this by visiting all departments to see if there is any working on less capacity or identify any hitch in the entire production activities. This will avoid waste as some employees may not be keen in the production process. The manager can also use their skills to foresee any sides that are likely to reduce production to affect the business negatively and then take a necessary course of action.

Controlling is also another function that is supposed to be done by the managers. It involves monitoring the activities and operations in different departments to identify any deviations from what is planned and necessary measures taken to make it right. The manager identifies the department that is not working and decides on what to do. However problematic areas can be identified earlier enough and right measures taken.

At times the managers will need to delegate their power and authority to their juniors for a variety of reasons. They may want to relieve themselves from some work they do in the organization. They may also want to give the juniors a chance to prove themselves so that they can feel part and parcel of the firm.

Given the many advantages of forefront identity manager in management, it is a tool that should be used in every organization. It enables the business to compete in the market appropriately. Also it makes living standards grow and the economy due to more productivity.

What to Know Before You Upgrade From XP to Windows 7

Selasa, 10 Juni 2014

What to Know Before You Move From XP to Windows 7
With Windows 7 coming out next month, there are, no doubt, a lot of Windows XP users who opted to skip over Windows Vista and are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to upgrade. Unfortunately, the switch may not be such an easy one. There is a lot of planning to do and a lot of learning to be done, but with the Windows 7s October 22 release date just around the corner, its never too early to start.

One of the first things you will want to do is check your hardware. If your computer was made in the last few years, you more-than-likely wont have a problem. If youre not sure about your current hardware situation, Microsoft offers a Windows 7 Upgrade advisor at their website. The advisor will perform a scan of your system and display a report that lets you know if you meet the requirements. Should there be a problem, the report lets you know what your options are for the upgrade.

Another thing you must understand is that you will have to perform a custom installation. Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 will not allow you to keep all of your settings and applications. A custom installation gives you the option to install Windows on a specific drive or partition, or completely replace your old operating system. When you do the complete replacement, a folder called "Windows.old" will show up on your hard disk and while it will contain your Windows, Documents, Settings, and Program Files, your applications will no longer be in working order. This means backing up and transferring important data, reinstalling applications, and reconfiguring your settings.

Its always helpful to have an inventory of all of your applications. Youll also want to make sure they are compatible with Windows 7. Once you have your list in place, you can gather up the information for what youll need once youve got Windows 7 installed including installation CDs and various websites from which youve downloaded applications.

One thing you may want to consider is a multiboot configuration. This means having both Windows XP and Windows 7 at your fingertips, which can help make the switch a little smoother. All you have to do is reboot into Windows XP at any given time to see exactly how something is installed or configured. To do this, you must install both XP and 7 on the same hard disk but on separate partitions. To make room for Windows 7, you will have to repartition your hard disk and there is software you can purchase to help you do this. Once youre finished, just set Windows 7 as your primary operating system and remove Windows XP all together.

As with any major change you make to your computer, youll want to back up all of your data. Youre more than likely going to use either a third-party back-up program or Windows XPs native Backup Utility. If youre using a third party program, make sure you check with your manufacturer to see if it will be compatible with Windows 7. If youre not sure or dont trust either backup system, you can, of course, make copies of all of your data and store it on CDs and external hard drives.

Now that you know you will need to transfer your data, how will you do it? Youll probably want to use a program that will scan your XP system to find all of your data and settings and that can transfer the information to Windows 7. Luckily, Windows 7 has an Easy Transfer feature that can do this for you, but. The transfer utility should come embedded within Windows 7, but also as a separate DVD.

Something else you can do to be prepared is become familiar with Window 7s new user interface (UI) as it is very different from that of Windows XP. To avoice what many call "UI Shock," you can visit Microsofts Windows 7 webpage. That will give you an idea of what to expect once youve installed Windows 7. The webpage features a Windows 7 Features section and a Windows 7 Help & How-to section. Microsofts website also features a Windows Training Portal which includes Windows 7 "Learning Snacks" (interactive presentations) and Microsoft Press Sample Chapters from upcoming Windows 7 books.

Finally, this seems simple enough but ask questions and share information. So many people will be switching from XP to Windows 7; you most certainly wont be alone. Visit technical forums and websites and connect with others who are in your shoes.

What Benefits Can You Get From Project Management Software Tools

Selasa, 03 Juni 2014

By Marissa Velazquez

In project management, the right systems and tools are needed in order to manage and control the resources. Projects are run on limited resources and they have timeframes to complete the work. If the manager does not achieve the desired results, it could lead to conflicts of interest with the clients. Managers can use project management software tools to organize resources and improve efficiency within the team.

With the wrong tool, you risk failing to achieve results. The projects may be delayed or you may run out of funds. A projects scheduling tool can assist you organize the different processes involved in planning and executing projects. The program allows you to delegate tasks to suitable employees, and this can enhance productivity and efficiency in implementing the plan.

Different assignments are delegated to every worker and those roles are reflected in the system. Employee can access the information they need from the system. This helps them know who they are supposed to contact or ask questions whenever there are issues of concern to be tackled. The program helps businesses to collaborate and share with stakeholders, clients, vendors, and employees.

While this tool will help promote teamwork, in addition, it assists in figuring out the weak areas. One of the major constraints of projects is finances. These tasks are implemented under a certain amount of funds that should be managed properly. The cost of projects can be accounted properly using the scheduling too.

Reporting is another important aspect when managing projects. The documents created are shared among different parties. The project scheduling tool offers flexible report formats and easy accessibility of data. Individuals can edit and update the reports, and this creates a system that promotes communication and transparency.

With the right tool, it allows easy interchangeability. A scheduling tool allows for easy inputting of information such as project phases and deadlines. The program then organizes the tasks and delivers notifications about the progress. This helps the implementation team to know the milestones it has made in accomplishing results.

The web-based tool may not require the license fees. Such fees could cost up to hundreds of dollars depending on features and scope of the program. When choosing a program, you need to examine the timeline of the tasks, and how much it will cost you at the end. This way, you can make a good judgement on the type of program you can acquire whether web based or desktop installed packages.

With the right project management software tools, you are able to run your projects smoothly. The collaboration process is improved. Your team is able to communicate effectively. Clients can access the systems and determine the progress of tasks, and if there are edits or review on the progress, they are done in time. The real time access to data and information is key in determining the success of a project. All the details are enters in the systems and the parties involved can easily access them.

Revolutionizing The Game World What Makes The Best Games For IPAD

Sabtu, 12 April 2014

By Mishu Hull

The game industry is one of, if not, the oldest experience of computers for the general public. Pong and Pac-man blazed the way. While gaming remains a major component of the modern personal computer world, another development in that world has raised skepticism about the ability to marry the two. This second dimension of the computer world is the touch screen, characteristic of smart phones and tablets such as iPad. How much of a conflict is there really here?

Certainly, the immediate evidence would suggest such a concern is much ado about nothing. Games have been developed for touch screens: Ive compiled my list of the best games for iPad elsewhere. The fact of such games though has not been without its detractors and critics.

The usual approach is to dis such games on what seems to be the practical impracticality. To put it bluntly, they complain that touch screen games arent effective because the players fingers obstruct the view of the screen.

This may too often be true. It is though a criticism of the games designed, not the gaming potential of touch screen computers. In fact, the notion that tactile interface with the screen is problematic is itself a kind of outdated myopia. Ill suggest, on the contrary, rather than some conceptual cul-de-sac, touch screen gaming is not merely the cutting edge of gaming culture and technology, but it is a portent of human-computer interfacing of the future.

Before completely unpacking this claim, some context will be helpful. Consider the visceral pleasures of finger painting. I know many will object that serious painters use paint brushes. Fine.

Yet, we all know the joys of sticking our fingers into the paint; of using the tips of our fingers to smear, spread and shape the paint. Finger painting in a sense is almost a kind of sculpture. Kids of course notoriously love it, but even adults, given the rare occasion, if not worried about getting paint on their new dress or suit, will often be compelled to spontaneously stick in their fingers.

Contrast these pleasures to another childhood picture making medium, the Etch-n-Sketch. Of course, Im not denying it provides fun and satisfaction, too. Perhaps youll concede though it is a rather different style of pleasure: detailed in an almost obsessive-compulsive sort of fixated way. This you might agree is a world away from the raw and sensual pleasures of anyone of any age experiencing finger painting. The difference between these two experiences is immediately related to the quality of immersion. Not merely immersion in an experience, but in the medium itself.

The person finger painting, in a very real sense, is actually "in" the picture that she is painting. The painting is literally an extension of the painter and the painter an extension of the painting. If we can wrap our head about this dynamic we will understand why touch screen gaming is not only the future of gaming, but of human-computer interface. The touch screen game has the same affect of immersing the player in the game as finger painting does of immersing the painter into the painting.

The sad truth is that those who complain about the absence of buttons and joysticks, mice and keyboards, in such games make themselves just another example in a long story of those that history has left behind. They merely reveal their resentment at the sudden devaluation of the refined skills, into which they have invested so much time, energy and money, only to find their once treasured skills antiquated and obsolete.

Our technological history is littered with those who tried to mask their efforts to protect their skills investment with pretensions of principle. Photographers complaining about digital cameras, ink-stained newspaper men complaining about the internet, motion picture moguls complaining about television, big band musicians complaining about the phonograph, and horse-and-carriage operators complaining about the automobile, are just a few of so many examples. The march of progress certainly does leave its causalities. Unless though we are happy to resolve ourselves to life in a permanent past, such change is finally for the good.

And of course superior function, though real enough, isnt even the real issue. The common themes here are more immediate and accessible experiences. Think about the very first person, whoever he was, that connected speakers to his television so as to produce surround sound. Surely he didnt know it, but he was blazing a way down a path which would eventually lead to that day not so far in the future when well all experience our favorite programs as total virtual reality scenarios.

Its almost a cliche to say that we like to "lose ourselves" in our entertainment, to get "wrapped up in it." We want for a little while to leave the worries of the world behind. This deep human desire for the brief refuge of an escape into fantasy and wonder, I suspect explains why we have always pushed our entertainment technology toward the experience of immersion.

The hugely popularity of Wii illustrates the point: this sudden and mass embrace of a tactically immersive gaming experience. The immersive gaming experience of the touch screen situates the player into the game in a way reminiscent of the childhood pleasures of finger painting. Indeed, we might say that it is an essential link between those childhood pleasures of the past and the promises of our virtual reality future.

In Sci-Fi shows we see space age technology in which lights come on when given a verbal command. How much more impressive would it be though if our lights came on when we needed them, or raised their intensity when our eyes were growing tired of a task. Leading edge AI technology raises this very possibility. Immersion is the natural inclination of human-computer interface.

Seen in this context, touch screen gaming may be regarded as a transitional step into that future. Game designers who insist upon putting "consoles" on to touch screen games are being left behind by history. They are like those early film makers and recording engineers who could not see their new technologies as anything more than the means to record live performances. And being able to do that was a great accomplishment. It was of course only when the visionaries came along who could imagine cinematography and splice-editing, though, that these new technologies realized their creative and aesthetic potential.

So with game designers responding to the growing demand for games on touch screens, if they can find the organic fit with the uniquely immersive qualities of the iPad, they too can be harbingers of the future. Otherwise, theyre just lingering stragglers of the past.

What is a Class

Selasa, 18 Maret 2014

Welcome back to Java Code Online. Class is the most commonly thing in Java. Having a good understanding of class is essential for getting a firm grip on the Principle of OOPS and Java itself. A class is called the blueprint of an Object. Everything that is done in Java, has to be enclosed within a class.

As I said before that the class is a blueprint of an Object, it is used for making Objects. I Java we know that everything is an Object, and if we dont know then we must know this. Java is built on the Principle of OOPS and is totally Object Oriented. So Java see everything as an Object.

I will take you through a through understanding of this concept. A class is used to define a new data type, and normally a separate class is used to make Objects of this new data type. Think of a class as something which defines what an Object knows and what an Object does. Therefore a class is also called a template for an Object and an Object is called an instance of the class. Thus a class contains the instance variables (things which an Object knows) and methods (things which an Object does).

A class is just like a blueprint and it covers every intricate detail about the Object that will be made from it. The normal structure of class is that it defines everything about an Object, so suppose that your application consists of some Objects, and so you make classes for each. Now you define a main class which will initiate all the calling procedure.

The main class always contain the method "main". This method tell the JVM that this is the main class and it need to start execution from here. Once in the main class, you can define Objects of other classes that you have made. I will take a simple example to clarify my point.

// This program declares two Car objects.
class Square {
int width;
int height;
}

class SquareDemo2 {
public static void main(String args[]) {
Square mySquare1 = new Square();
Square mySquare2 = new Square();
int area;
// assign values to mySquare1s instance variables
mySquare1.width = 10;
mySquare1.height = 20;
/* assign different values to mySquare2s instance variables */
mySquare2.width = 15;
mySquare2.height = 15;
// compute area of first Square
area = mySquare1.width * mySquare1.height;
System.out.println("Area is " + area);
// compute area of second box
area = mySquare2.width * mySquare2.height;
System.out.println("Area is " + area);
}
}

The first System.out.println results in:- 200
The second System.out.println results in:- 225

Now you must be wondering about so many new things, I have shown above. I will cover each of them.

Here we have defined two classes Square and SquareDemo2. The first class is used for making an Object of type Car. The second Class uses this new data type for making new Objects. Now as told before, the execution begins from the class containing the "main" method.

Now as you can see that there are two different outputs for the two Objects, this shows that both the Objects are unique and are independent of each other. Here System.out.println is used for displaying the results at the console or output screen.

The lines starting with // are skipped by the Java compiler. Infact the // is the syntax for Comment in Java. These are very helpful in explaining the functioning of the code.

If you have any problems with the code that I have explained right now, then do leave me a comment and I will try my best to clarify your doubt.

The most important thing that you must have noticed here is the parameter "new". This is the magic keyword of Java and is used for creating new Objects. I will discuss more on creating a new Object in my later posts.

I hope the article was helpful in explaining you about What is a Class. If you like this article then do leave a comment. For more information on Java, keep buzzing Java Code Online.

What is Inheritance in Java and OOPS Tutorial Example

Jumat, 07 Februari 2014

Inheritance in Java is an Object oriented or  OOPS concepts, which allows to emulate real world Inheritance behavior, Inheritance allows code reuse in Object oriented programming language e.g. Java. Along with Abstraction, Polymorphismand Encapsulation, Inheritance forms basis of Object oriented programming. Inheritance is implemented using extends keyword in Java and When one Class extends another Class it inherit all non private members including fields and methods. Inheritance in Java can be best understand in terms of Parent and Child class, also known as Super class and Sub class in Java programming language. The classwhich extends another class becomes Child of the class it extends and inherit all its functionality which is not private or package-private given where Child class is created. Inheritance is the most easy way to reuse already written and tested code but not always best way to do so, which we will see in this article. There are lot of example of Inheritance in Object oriented world e.g. Child inherit properties from parent, Dog inherit properties of Animal etc. In this Java and OOPS tutorial we will learn What is Inheritance in Java, How to use Inheritance in Java, Simple Example of Java Inheritance and some important points about Inheritance in Java.

What all new Oracle users should know about SQL Plus

Senin, 03 Februari 2014

Ok, I realize anyone who’s used oracle much will already know this, but I still get asked this question a lot. Usually its from people who know SQL, but havent worked a lot with Oracle.

If you are using SQL Plus with Oracle, you may be surprised by the odd way it displays results. This is because by default SQL Plus assumes your screen is only 80 characters wide, and 14 rows tall, and wraps accordingly.

You can fix this by entering the following in SQL Plus:
set pagesize 50000
set linesize 32767

By default those values are 14 and 80 respectively. 32767 is the maximum size for linesize and 50000 is the maximum size for pagesize.

What is Race Condition in multithreading – 2 Examples in Java

Sabtu, 01 Februari 2014

Race condition in Java is a type of concurrency bug or issue which is introduced in your program because  parallel execution of your program by multiple threads at same time, Since Java is a multi-threaded programming language hence risk of Race condition is higher in Java which demands clear understanding of what causes a race condition and how to avoid that. Anyway Race conditions are just one of hazards or risk presented by  use of multi-threading in Java just like deadlock in Java. Race conditions occurs when two thread operate on same object without proper synchronization and there operation interleaves on each other. Classical example of Race condition is incrementing a counter since increment is not an atomic operation and can be further divided into three steps like read, update and write. if two threads tries to increment count at same time and if they read same value because of interleaving of read operation of one thread to update operation of another thread, one count will be lost when one thread overwrite increment done by other thread. atomic operations are not subject to race conditions because those operation cannot be interleaved. This is also a popular multi-threading interview questions during core java interviews. In this article we will see how to find race condition in Java and  two sample code patterns which often causes race conditions in Java.
